The legendary Martin Kemp has been announced as the star guest DJ at new boutique event, GOLD eighties ocean party, which takes place on Sandbanks Beach as part of the Sandpolo weekend, on the evening of Saturday 10th July 2021, from 7pm-1am. A host of internationally acclaimed acts will celebrate an iconic era, on one of the UK’s most exclusive beaches, with 3,000 guests expected.
Kemp was a member of Spandau Ballet, an English new wave band formed in Islington, London, in 1979. Inspired by the capital’s post-punk underground dance scene, they emerged at the start of the 1980s as the house band for the Blitz Kids, playing as “The Applause” for this new club culture’s audience.
They became one of the most successful groups of the New Romantic era of British pop, and were part of the Second British Invasion of the Billboard Top 40 in the 1980s, selling 25 million albums and having 23 hit singles worldwide. The band have had eight UK top 10 albums, including three greatest hits compilations and an album of re-recorded material.
Ticket holders are invited to arrive from 1pm – don’t miss out on an afternoon of thrilling and exciting Sandpolo! Spectators are so close to the action that they can fully appreciate the horsemanship and skill on display by the professional players. Guests will also enjoy a five-a-side beach rugby exhibition, a charity pony race, and an 80’s-inspired fashion show!
With the English Channel as a backdrop, and no shortage of food and drink amongst glamorous company, it’s an intoxicating mix, and the perfect tonic before an evening of dancing until late!
Location: Sandbanks is probably the most exclusive beach community in the UK. The infamous peninsular extends out across Poole Harbour on the scenic Dorset coast. It boasts upmarket luxurious homes and pristine ‘Blue Flag’ beaches. Poole is easily accessible with a fast rail connection (100 minutes direct from London Waterloo), good road access (30 minutes from Southampton) and 2 international airports within 45 minutes.
General admission early bird tickets start at £35!
Joshua Simons, GOLD eighties ocean party promoter, comments: “This new concept event will provide guests with an action-packed day of Sandpolo, followed by an evening of entertainment under the stars.
